What To Do at Cuyahoga Valley
Cuyahoga Valley National Park has plenty to do. Everything from hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, train rides, children’s activities, cave exploring, camping, skiing, and one my favorites golfing at Brandywine Golf Course or Sleepy Hollow Golf Course. There is no question that you’ll find something you’ll like at Cuyahoga Valley.
*Hiking: There are many miles of hiking and biking trails that you’ll love. Beaver Marsh, Ledges Trail, Towpath Trail, Buckeye Trail North and South and Brandywine Falls Trails are just a few. I would say that Hiking is one of the core activates at Cuyahoga Valley.
*Kayaking: There are several places where you can rent kayaks or canoes. Click the link to view all the places.
*Train Rides: Cuyahoga Valley is famous for its train rides. The National Park Scenic train runs Southbound and Northbound throughout the day. It is an amazing 3.5 hour round trip through the most beautiful parts of the park. It is something you’ll never forget. To view the prices and schedule click Here.
*Camping: There are five primitive campsites where you camp out with tents. The campsites are available from Memorial Day weekend through October 31. Unfortunately reservations are required. You have to book your reservations by clicking Here. Or you could call 330-657-2909. The fees are $25 bucks a night per campsite up to 10 nights. Unfortunately backcountry camping is not permitted which is kind of lame.
*Skiing: Winter activates is one of the funniest things to do at the park. Brandywine Ski Resort, Boston Mills Brandywine Ski Area, Polar Blast Snow Tubing, Alpine Valley, Big Creek Ski Area are some awesome places for winter activates. If you are visiting during the winter time these are excellent places to visit.
*Golfing: There are numerous golf course around the area. Check out the google map search for Golfing near Cuyahoga Valley. Brandywine Golf Course is a favorite because of how close you are to everything in the park. Brandywine Falls is one of the premier waterfalls in the park. It is definitely a must see!
By all means, this isn’t an entire list of things to do at Cuyahoga Valley just some of my favorite things. As you know I’m in the process of writing a complete guide to Cuyahoga Valley National Park that will have everything you need to know about the park. I would like to release the guide in June. More to come on this.
So now you know where Cuyahoga Valley National Park is and the many things to do. Cuyahoga Valley National Park is open all year around. Really any time of the year is fun to go. If you go during the winter season you’ll find plenty to do. If you go during the summer season you’ll find plenty to do. No matter what season or time of year you go you’ll definitely enjoy it.
To me, the train ride and the stunning scenery was the highlights of the trip. I only went for the weekend but I could have easily stayed for an entire week.
If you are camping out and taking the train ride it is best to make sure you reserve your tickets before you go. Entrance to the park is completely free however most of the fun activities do cost money such as the train ride, camping, renting kayaks, or playing a round of golf. You can plan an entire day of hiking and sightseeing without spending any money though.
In the next blog, I’ll be writing about the best places to stay and tips on how to make the most out of your trip.
